These poems and prose poems were majorly written in the 1980s. I used to visit st Pauls, the Afro Carib area in Bristol at midday and write every afternoon in the early 1980s. When I moved to London in the mid 1980s, I would write in the various squats I lived in, after going out during the day. At times I would write art manifestos, remnants of which are contained in this collection. My work at this time was influenced by Arthur Rimbaud and Antonin Artaud. I would also write in hospital and rehab; and in 2000 all these poems were published in an A4 book, with many pen and ink and photocopy illustrations. That book is now deleted. “I am in the mirror Where there can be no fake Stand firm and do not shirk The logical consequences of your being” The author won a $10,000 prize for his work and the title ‘Internet Poet Of The Year (poetry.com) in 2004.
